Social Media, Influencer and Impersonation Scams
Assume an online identity is unverified until independently confirmed.
- A polished profile, blue check, follower count or mutual connections does not establish legitimacy.
- Scammers may impersonate friends, influencers, businesses, employers or public figures.
- Do not publish unnecessary personal information that can help answer security questions or impersonate you.
- If an account asks for money unexpectedly, verify through another established channel.
