Government, Tax, Student-Loan and Benefits Scams
Do not use contact information supplied by the caller. Find the agency or program independently and contact it yourself.
- Scammers impersonate the IRS, Social Security Administration, police, courts, immigration agencies, DMV, schools and student-loan services.
- They may threaten arrest, suspension, deportation, lawsuits or loss of benefits.
- Others promise student-loan forgiveness, scholarships or government programs in exchange for fees or sensitive information.
