Gift Cards, Wire Transfers, Cryptocurrency and Irreversible Payments
Stop, verify the recipient independently, and use a protected payment mechanism when one exists.
- Gift cards are a major warning sign when someone instructs you to buy them and provide the codes.
- Wire transfers and cryptocurrency can be difficult or impossible to reverse.
- Never allow someone to dictate the payment method simply because it is 'faster' or 'safer.'
