Home Repair, Contractor and Property Scams
Get multiple estimates, independently verify the contractor and use a written agreement.
- Door-to-door operators may claim a roof, driveway, tree, HVAC system or other property component needs immediate repair.
- Warning signs include immediate payment demands, cash-only terms, large deposits, no written contract, pressure to start immediately or refusal to provide references.
- Rental and property scams can also target owners and prospective renters.
